Arguing over (my) femininity
''You should try wearing more maxi dresses instead of shorts all the time.''
''You should try to be more feminine, you're a girl.''
''Why don't you wear more skirts?''
Shut up.
This is my body.
This is the way i am.
You are not to choose what i shall wear or shall not wear.
Yes, i value opinions.
Yes, i value the fact you think i look absolutely beautiful in that long piece of fabric.
But i am so tired of hearing this.
Look, i am who i am. I don't know how this fucking means to you.
So your type is
''Hehe, Hi! My name's Rachel. I like maxi skirts, long sun dresses, i do my hair at 7am every morning before school! I'm on the cheerleading squad. I'm head cheerleader! I love the color pink, my poodle named Choco. I love taylor swift and i often shop at victoria secret! I get my legs waxed every month and my nail polish is called Elle fantastic pink!''
(not that there's anything wrong with being like that, heck i used to be a cheerleading and i like Victoria secret i'm just saying.)
No. Fuck no.
I've been told to be myself all this life.
Why the hell should i fucking change myself just because you seemingly like things that i don't?
Just for the fucking record, Girls.
Please, dress for yourself.
Not for the dicks of the boys. Not because someone told you whatever you happen to wear seems to be out of trend.
No no no no.
Fucking hell no. I do not take any of that.
If i decide to wear a dress, then hell yes. I will wear that dress. Not because you want me to, not because you like me in it.
I just don't fucking get it. I've been told to wear more colors. Be more ''feminine''
Dress more like a ''girl''
Everyone has different expectations of the other person. WHY?
Why expect? Why want a certain standard? Are you even up to that standard?
Where you are telling me to be a certain way?
I've never liked being told what i should do, how i should dress nor act a certain way.
Yes. That is an extremely bad stubborn trait but, i do take positive constructive criticisms.
Not bullshit for the sake of anyone else's.
I've always wanted to look different or have an ideal in my head of how i would like to look like.
And having this constant nag about being feminine.
I have nothing against dresses or skirts.
I do have a ton of skirts, don't get me wrong. But i do understand what these comments mean.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not being told this. Day in and day out,
But i just hate hearing this. Especially from people who know my style and how i've always dressed.
I'm not going to change, not for people who are not willing to change for me.
And heck, i don't ask for a change in anyone. Especially not a physical trait.
Yes i do sometimes say, ''That looks so good on you''
'' You look so great wearing that.''
But i don't go ahead and keep on keeping on about,
''Why don't you try to be _____''
I'm sure as hell you wouldn't enjoy it. Not one fucking bit.
If i decide to wear leather pants and a tube top. Let me be.
If i want to wear a maxi dress and a turtle neck. Let me be.
If i want to wear a skirt, knee socks and high heels. Let me fucking be.
If i want to wear all black with black lipsticks. Let me be.
If i want to wear jeans, a shirt and sneakers. Let me fucking be.
Just, please.
LET ME FUCKING BE.
