In a nut-shell (1)

Hello. Sorry i've been gone for the past few days.
The week has been hectic (in the most incredible way.)

I've had so many events going on that i, of course had to blog about.
First of- As many of you know (i think, lah.)
I was an intern at FleshImp / Femmex.
And they had re-vamped their cineleisure outlet and of course, what is a store revamping without a party?!

And also an amazing cat-walk which had the most amazing models.
(I swear, i am not biased. But everyone whom i had dressed up were super jaw-dropping.)
(Though i purposely chose to dress the male models. Hello, best experience of my life.)

Anyway. Me and brenda had come to prep the area around the early hours of 11am. To steam clothes, etc. It was also interesting to see how a big event like this took so much time and effort.
Just a little fyi, it took them around 3-4 months in advance to get everything done especially me and brenda, who had worked toward for Femmex's latest collection which i am immensely proud of.

I didn't really have the time to snap pictures of all the models.
(Although i'm sure my memory has clear precise images of them. Oh good lord, thank the heavens. These guys are so beautiful.)
But the party and the opening was such a huge success! I'm so proud of what Brenda has done to make this entire event so successful and grand! All the planning and time was so worth it!
There was also food and beer during the event. Twelve cupcakes was also sponsoring the event.
I know, wish i had photos. But here, i shall steal some from Femmex's page. hehe.

Oh good god.
The amazing food and the models from #anticipatingdiva.
(insert sighs of satisfaction and pounding hearts)
I'm wearing Femmex's Hug Me Dress.
And Brenda is wearing Femmex's Heart Breaker Dress.

Unfortunately my dress seemed extremely short on me. Although it's absolutely gorgeous and it hugs all the right places.
(Though it was an absolute BITCH to squeeze into.)

You can get what me and brenda are wearing here!

This is NOT a paid advertisement!
I just really love what we both were wearing.

Other then that, my booties are from H&M!

On the exact same day, it was my Mommy's 55th birthday!
So i had to rush after the event.
I didn't have time to continue partying and eating.
But actually, i did.
My mom celebrated her birthday at Carousel.
Carousel the buffet at Royal Scotts' Hotel.

But yes, sadly. I don't document what i've eaten at carousel.
But the roasted chicken is absolutely amazing! I wish i had but i was too bloody busy stuffing my face.
And afterwards, we went to AquaNova at Clark Quay.
Ok. granted, i have never went to a proper club before. Well, at least not in singapore.
I'm pretty sure why my mom chose AquaNova was because all the other clubs had long-ass lines to wait for.
I'm not really a clubbing girl.
(This might change. I have no idea. As of now. I would rather stay home and sleep.)
But it was a really good experience!
Ok fuck. I make this sound like i went on a school field trip.
But it really was. Though i HATE the music choices.
It was really great to see my mom let her hair down and dance.

This blogpost is getting rather long. So i'm splitting this into two parts!

Is it child labor?

''So, Anna. How is life of an Intern?''

I'm in the second year of Fashion Apparel and Design in ITE College Central. Which is a 2 year course for those who are wondering.

We had to prepare for our industrial attachment right after we had finished with our draping module which ended around early march.
Our attachment was about 2 months or longer for each different company.

Our lecturer or class CA. (or form teacher or whatever lah.) would personally ask us, what do we prefer to do in the Fashion Industry.

While some of my classmates chose Bridal, Costumes, Designing, Retail. I had specifically told him i wanted something to do with Journalism.
(Well i guess it sort of fits, because i'm blogging.)

I had an interview for another Singaporean Label. And unfortunately i wasn't selected.
But after hearing what my classmates went through.
I'm appreciative.
And i hate retail.
(I didn't do retail during my internship. I remember telling my lecturer i never want to do retail)

I had an interview for FleshImp Singapore.
I'm sure many of you Singaporeans know this brand, they're well known for their Street Wear.
But apparently i didn't know Femmex was an brand of theirs.
Well, till i went for the interview.

Obviously, i had not known anything or very little to nothing about this company. I had all my hopes on being accepted by the other Singaporean Label.

In my defence, or if my supervisor or boss. (Hi brenda! Hi nicholas!) happen to stumble upon this blogpost.
That specific label really stood out to me, specifically because my idea style would be more heavily influenced by very dark, gothic type of fashion. And that was what the label is like.
So naturally, i wanted to be apart of them and be accepted by them as an intern.
Ok, again. Unfortunately i wasn't but i'm still blessed (and grateful) that i had the opportunity to get accepted by FleshImp/Femmex.

(i know i keep saying That label, i just don't want anyone or any of my colleagues or the designer to get offended or anything else. Just making it clear)

During my first day, it was terrible trying to get there.
Of course, working in their main office means i had to travel to an industrial site. Which happened to be at Kallang.
Yeah, it sounds alright. But it was pissing trying to get there every damn day. I hated the stupid 40 minute ride back and forth to and back from work.

It's been a hell of ride, frankly speaking. I didn't really have a proper job before this. My only proper job was at a call centre and i was customer service for Mcdonalds.
Ahem. It was really fun actually, but also really tiring. I took midnight shifts because it made me earn alil more.
Being an Intern for a Local Fashion Label, it just opened my eyes up to show me what the development process was.
I was being trained as a Fashion Writer and also being trained for being punctual handing up work and other work ethnics.
To be honest, i'm not a brilliant student. I normally hand in my sewing work late because on the hand, i'm slow and i do not fancy sewing at all.
I'm grateful for this Intern. Although i often complain about being exhausted and annoyed.
I don't think i would've liked doing anything else.

I also participated in one of the biggest projects (well at least to me)
Femmex had a collab with BabySG / Casio featuring some of Singapore's very own artists.
I had a great honor of meeting Sonia Chew from 98.7FM and Sara Wee Of 53A
(Sara is such a babe! Sonia is soooo funny)

I was assigned a schedule to call up the personalities and to style and handle what's going on throughout the entire shoot.
It's a super exciting collab and I cannot wait for the collection to be launched in early June!
There's some snippets of me at work and the BTS of the BabyG shoot.
Unfortunately, of course. I couldn't include every photo i've taken.
But it's been a hell of a ride and a blessing.

And to brenda if you ever see this,
Thank you so much for putting up with me and my nonsense through out the entire 2 months.
You're the bestest and i only wish for the best in your career.
You're strong, inspiring and driven.
Not much of a boss, more of a muse and a sister.
Keep hustlin' and i'll see you soon!
